Our directly sourced Nicaraguan coffee is rated in the top 3% of the world’s beans. Our farmer’s Rolyn and Lorena grow their coffee at elevations of 1,000 to 1,800 meters in the mountains outside of Managua. To keep it simple, they always say, “the higher the altitude the better the coffee.” Their arabica coffee is farmed using traditional healthier methods and the natural environment as the coffee shrubs are grown under the shade of a forest canopy.
If you’re looking for a well-balanced and tasty cup, this country is the way to go. The main factor that affects the taste of the Colombian coffee is its country’s perfect climate. Colombia’s mountainous terrain, tropical location, high rainfall – with just the right amount of sunlight, too – and relatively mild climate make for an unbelievably perfect coffee-growing country. The coffee has a rich, mildly fruity and chocolatey flavor.
Our Brazilian coffee is grown in some of the richest soil on the planet, low altitude fields, and the hot humid climate that coffee plants thrive in. When it comes to taste, Brazilian is hard to beat. Our coffee presents a pleasant bittersweet chocolate and caramel taste, with a full-bodied softness, nuttiness, and low acidity. This profile makes it the perfect base for flavored coffees and espresso blends.
Still not sure? Here's a cheat sheet!
How long will it last me?
- One 16 oz bag is about a two week supply for 1 to 2 coffee drinkers.
- Two Pound (lbs) bags are about a month’s supply for 2 to 3 coffee drinkers.
- Five Pound (lbs) bags (per month) are great for small offices, large families, or coffee clubs!
What country should I pick? Well that all depends on your preferences, but an easy way to know is by the flavors you like, otherwise known as your “Flavor Profile”.
Mandarin Orange, Citrus, & Chocolate = Nicaraguan Organic (Best Seller)
Nutty & Bold = Colombian Organic
Full-bodied, Nuttiness, & Chocolate = Brazilian All Natural
What makes Guadalupe different from store-bought coffee? We love getting this question because it gives us an opportunity to explain the quality of our beans. In regards to quality, our farmer’s beans have been reviewed by “the coffee pros” at boomtown and we received a near perfect rating in the top 3% of Beans In The World! Our farmer’s beans are also individually examined and hand-selected so that only “specialty grade” beans (beans without defect) are selected for Guadalupe, unlike most store bought that is just “common grade coffee.”
Does Guadalupe buy directly from the farmer or through a coffee broker? Our mission is to be the most farmer centric coffee company in the world. We want to bring you, the customer, as close as possible to our farmers! With that being said, yes, we buy our Nicaraguan coffee directly from Rolyn and Lorena Garcia. Thanks to you, Guadalupe is now in a position where we are beginning to build more relationships with farmers in Uganda and Colombia, so stay tuned!
